LION CUBS V MILDENHALL, PREVIEW

LEICESTER round off their regular NDL programme with a home clash against Mildenhall at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park on Friday (7.30pm).

The clubs met in the Grand Final last season but whilst the Lion Cubs have booked their place in this year’s title decider, the Fen Tigers have fallen just short on this occasion.

However, the Suffolk side do still have the opportunity to win silverware in 2023 as they will return to Leicester next month to face the Cubs in the KO Cup Final.

The visitors are led by one of the best riders in the NDL, Alfie Bowtell, and also include the spectacular Lee Complin as captain along with former Cubs rider Ben Trigger who has continued to make progress this year.

The Lion Cubs are without the Thompson twins for this fixture as Dan remains on the sidelines with his shoulder injury, whilst Joe is racing for Poole in the Championship play-offs at Edinburgh.

Max Clegg once again stands in at No.1 with the Cubs operating rider replacement for Joe, with all members of the team eligible for an extra ride. Tom Spencer will take over as captain for the night.

Manager Dave Howard said: “We are already guaranteed our place in the league Grand Final, but we want to win well against Mildenhall to give us a boost for our Cup Final mindset.

“As always we want to keep our strong home record going to keep us in a positive place for what will be another big October.”

LEICESTER: Max Clegg, Ashton Boughen, Max Perry, Tom Spencer, Joe Thompson r/r, Vinnie Foord, Max James.
MILDENHALL: Alfie Bowtell, Arran Butcher, Ben Trigger, George Congreve, Lee Complin, William Richardson, Kai Ward.
